Love stinks. Take Dan for example. Dan meets and falls in love with a stripper after seeing her get hit by a car. Over time she becomes needy and he gets bored, eventually breaking her heart. Dan falls in love with someone else, but is rejected and reduced to stalking the object of his affection before unwittingly setting her up with her future husband. Now Dan is a lonely, lovesick homewrecker, surrounded by distrust and failed relationships. Dallas Opera is raising its glass to the dark side of love by hosting a screening of Closer, a twisted tale of love gone wrong based on and featuring the music of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte. It stars Jude Law as Dan, Natalie Portman as the emotional stripper, Julia Roberts as object of affection and Clive Owen as the husband. But, as is often the case with love, things are not exactly what they seem. It's always more entertaining when it's happening to other people, especially beautiful people, so catch the free screening of Closer at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W.
