FIT to Be Seen

The Festival of Independent Theatreskicks off its 11th annual, four-week play festival featuring new plays and local playwrights in eight one-act performances starting Friday and running through August 8. Located at the Bath House Cultural Center on Lawther Drive, FIT offers drama to all levels of theater fans. Plays include the area premier of Arsenic & Roses by the Audacity Theatre Lab, Overtones by Echo Theatre, the new play Under a Texaco Canopy by One Thirty Productions, the new play Know-No by Pegasus Theatre, the new play Angry Glances by Rite of Passage, the new play The Old Woman in the Wood by The Drama Club and inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, the new play Holy Rollers by White Rock Pollution and Seagulls by WingSpan Theatre Company. Covering topics like office romance, popularity battles of God and Zeus, mysterious mental powers, compromise, sacrifice and happy endings, with each show lasting less than an hour, check them all out. Shows are Thursdays through Sundays, but check the Web site for a complete schedule. Two-week Festival passes cost $49, four-week passes are $69 and single tickets range from $12 to $16.
