Razzle Dazzle

Summertime is when community theater really shines, and the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre brings the shimmer by putting on the ever-sparkly Chicago. Murder and betrayal make for a great show, and this one is absolutely peppered with vaudevillian song and dance, with added pizazz steeped in the style of legendary co-creator Bob Fosse. In 1920s Chicago, vaudeville dancer Velma Kelly murders her husband and sister when she finds them in bed together. Soon after, married showgirl Roxie Hart murders her lover. Roxie and Velma, on death row together, vie for the spotlight and the headlines hoping the publicity will shoot them to freedom and fame. So imagine all that, but with jazz hands. Chicago runs through August 2 at 160 W. Main St. in Lewisville. Showtimes are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15, $13 for students. Call 972-221-SHOW or visit glct.org for more info.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m.; Thu., July 23, 8 p.m. Starts: July 10. Continues through Aug. 2, 2009
