Run for the Border

Chihuahuas are odd little creatures. They have personalities the size of Andre the Giant, but they usually travel around in purses or under the arm of their owner. At first I thought that the little "dogs" were just hitching rides with the rich and famous, but then I realized something-- people don't carry Chihuahuas around because they're precious, they carry them around so that the little buggers don't run away. Not to say that Chihuahuas want to escape their lives of luxury, but it's in their nature to run like the wind if they have the opportunity. To honor the little engines that can, PETCO is holding the 5th Annual Chihuahua Races National Finals in New York City, so if you think your pooch can best Cricket, the Regional Champ since 2005, be sure to register (online now or at 8 a.m. on race day) for a spot in the Dallas Regional Races this Saturday. The Regional winner (along with its owner and a guest) will be flown to NYC to compete in the National Finals August 29. Races start at 9 a.m. at the Prestonwood PETCO, 5301 Belt Line Road, Suite 106. Call 972-788-0460 or visit petco.com/races.
