When you think Nerd Bar, don't picture LAN parties and Star Trek viewings. Think three women--Pumpkin, Pooble and Phancy--connected to Denton's scene, discussing everything from scientific theories to celebrity gossip, maybe drinking a little and...perhaps some unmentionables. They're completely revamping the Nerd Bar podcast, hence an official launch party. Dan's Silverleaf hosts the night of "words, music, film and good feelings." Sarah Alexander, Aaron Anderson, Jason Ashbaugh, Gigi Foster, Aaron Leis, Katey Margolis (full disclosure: We claim her weekly in Night & Day), Michael Constantine McConnell, Scott Porter and Darci Ratliff (of Kittenpants) start the night with poetry readings, skits and stories around 8-ish. Following the words, Maggie Peek presents a short film and then comes music by Stumptone, History at Our Disposal, Dim Locator, George Neal and Sarah Alexander around 10 p.m. It's an all-ages show, and $7 gets you in.
