One of the things about karaoke that is so cheesy is that you are not only drunkenly singing some old song, but you are doing it with a recorded back-up band. Even with my limited experience of being in a band, I can say that there is nothing like it. The bass thumps inside your ribs, the guitars fill your head, and the drums--the drums are more important than the uninitiated imagine, driving the whole thing home.
