The undead are so hot right now. Brooding, lifeless faces are plastered everywhere, but all I see is blatant discrimination. Sure they may not be sparkly-skinned, bare-chested, eternally 17-year-olds, but let's not forget about those other sexy hunks of immortal flesh. Zombies have been keeping it real for just as long as bloodsuckers, and you don't see their posters all over girl's walls. Maybe they are slightly decaying, but what's a little exposed brain when you've starred in a Michael Jackson video? Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead, starring British funny guys Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, is the perfect reminder of how hip zombies can be. It's a romantic zomedy, if you will, about two slackers who bring the chuckles to the crazy trials of love and friendship, all while trying to fend off a zombie invasion on their hometown. Shaun of the Dead is screening at midnight this Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
