There's a slew of community-driven biking events lately. Groups are popping up here and there. Riding through Oak Cliff. Following historic pathways a la Oswald and the like. For those who like to ride, but don't feel too street/traffic savvy just yet, the North Texas Environmental Meetup is hosting a ride down the Katy Trail this Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m., and beginning from Mockingbird Station, the ride will head approximately 2.5 miles to the razed plot that was once Baby Doe's Matchless Mine. After a little urban exploration, the group will ride back for lunch at the Station. The Meetup encourages all participants to bring helmets and ample sunscreen, and to use the DART rail to get to Mockingbird Station if possible. The ride is free. Visit meetup.com/environmentalists for more info.
