The seemingly endless wait for the debut full-length from local alt-country combo Somebody's Darling is finally over. Having won the Shiner Rising Star contest last year, Amber Farris and the rest of Somebody's Darling have put in some long hours preparing the band's debut for public consumption. Produced by Dan Baird (of Georgia Satellites fame), Somebody's Darling's self-titled debut will feature many of the (great) songs that appeared on last year's teaser EP, plus some delicious new concoctions.

For anyone unfamiliar with the band, this CD release show is a golden opportunity to catch up with one of our area's best acts; not only can Farris shout it out like an alt-country Aretha Franklin, but guitarist David Ponder isn't exactly a slouch in the songwriting department, either. Together, the two, along with a tight rhythm section, merge old-school honky-tonk with pop and soul. It's a mixture that always seems to translate well whenever Somebody's Darling hits the stage.

Also appearing on this evening's bill: John David Kent, Merrol Ray and King of the Rabbit Trail. All in all, a full evening of rural music perfectly suited for tipping a few beers back.
