A Sordid Blanche

If you're here, and you think Texas isn't queer, you might need to get your senses cleared. The Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau has been promoting the city's plentiful LGBTQ offerings for years, and maybe you've heard of that giant, massive pride parade every year over in Oak Lawn? The one that the mayor attends? The one that's second only to New York and San Francisco in attendance? If you're picking up what I'm putting down, you probably already know about the Texas-based LGBTQ cult classic play Sordid Lives, by Queer as Folk creator Del Shores. If you don't already know about it, the time has come--along with Rue McClanahan, Caroline Rhea and an array of gay, straight and everything-between favorites--with A Sordid Comedy Affair. The Affair is a comic variety show featuring stand-up comedy, music and solo performances with a Southern flair. Heck, it's worth it just to see Blanche Devereaux on principle, but Will and Grace's white-haired Leslie Jordan and Jason Dottley, from the Sordid Lives television series on the Logo network, will also perform. The show's this Saturday at the Majestic Theater, 1925 Elm St. Tickets are $22.50 to $100, and showtimes are 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Visit ticketmaster.com.
Sat., Sept. 19, 2 & 8 p.m., 2009
