Dog Day Afternoon sounds like a fun event for dogs and dog people. But because my older mutt has had some recent misfortunes and bears a resemblance to Al Pacino, I'm hesitant to take him. I'm afraid he'd snap and rush the event's vendor-packed "Doggie Mall," use his doggie rifle to take Dallas Dog and Disc Club athletes and Search One Animal Rescue dogs as hostages, and demand a helicopter and money to get his boyfriend neutered. The festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Flagpole Hill (8100 Doran Circle) and benefiting Operation Kindness, shouldn't end that way. Call 972-418-PAWS.
