Can It

Have you been eyeing your kids' Legos and Lincoln Logs a little too much lately? Maybe you can't think of a proper excuse to get your hands on them, but you still have that I gotta build stuff itch, which is hard to escape. Well, just to rub it in, dozens of local architects, engineers and designers are getting together by putting their best foot forward and taking part in one of the most creative construction events around CANstruction. With only 12 hours to work, CANstruction teams get to turn their favorite non-perishables into whatever their hearts desire (remember last year's giant roller skates?), all to benefit the North Texas Food Bank. This year is looking to be even bigger and better than last year (when the food bank collected 80,000 pounds of foodstuffs) as the event moves to Galleria Dallas (13350 Dallas Parkway). Stop by the Galleria Saturday and watch as the teams construct their masterpieces all day long. Their creations will be judged in a variety of categories in the afternoon, and the CANstructions will be on display for people's choice voting through October 18. Mall hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Visit canstruction.org for more info.
Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sundays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: Oct. 3. Continues through Oct. 18, 2009
