If They Build It...

Brace yourself--there's been another British invasion. Norman Foster and his merry band of architects were imported from London to Texas to design the Winspear Opera House at the Dallas Center for Performing Arts. The horseshoe-shaped building anchors a long list of modernist architecture dreamed up over the last four decades by Foster & Partners. An exhibition of models, drawings, photos and videos of the firm's stunning creations at the Nasher Sculpture Center coincides with the highly anticipated grand opening of the Winspear Opera House. Foster, a Pritzker Prize winner (think Nobel Prize for architects), counts Frank Lloyd Wright as an influence. Both men have left a unique imprint on the Dallas landscape with structures dedicated to the arts. The Art of Architecture: Foster & Partners runs Saturday through January 10, Tuesday through Sunday. Tickets are $5 to $10. Children under 12 and seniors are admitted for free. For more information, visit NasherSculptureCenter.org.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 26. Continues through Jan. 10, 2009
