Redneck Ruckus

Remember when it was an insult to be called a redneck? Now, "his 'n' hers" camouflage, dirt track dates, and truck stop tchotchkes are ironically hip. (And, if you don't believe us, then you've obviously never been to the Double-Wide.) We think the trend was helped by Jeff Foxworthy, the Georgia-based comedian who made his fame by cracking wise about all things Southern, blue collar and, well, redneck. He has since leveraged his comedic wit to star in his own eponymous sitcom, and he currently hosts the popular TV quiz show, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? But he's probably best known for being a redneck and making the whole lifestyle seem kind of fun. After all, it takes one to know one, and that's part of Foxworthy's charm. His folksy, familiar style of delivery goes a long way in ensuring that listeners don't get too hot under the collar, no matter what color the collar is. Jeff Foxworthy performs at 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at Bass Performance Hall, 330 Fourth St. at Calhoun St. in Fort Worth. Tickets are $45 to $125 at 2 p.m., $45 to $75 at 7 p.m. Call 877-212-4280 or visit basshall.com.
Sun., Sept. 27, 2 & 7 p.m., 2009
