It's A Family Affair

When you hear of a theater company that emphasizes plays "by, for and about women," you probably imagine something a little like the Hallmark Channel or the Lifetime Movie Network onstage. If your tastes lean more toward the family-friendly former network, then stay away, but if you want a more intellectual version of the latter's "ripped from the headlines/oh no she didn'’t!" shock factor, then now is the time to head to The Bath House Cultural Center (521 E. Lawther Drive) and check out the Wingspan Theatre Company's production of Wendy Kesselman's play My Sister in This House. Part The Maids and part Heavenly Creatures, My Sister in This House is based on the infamously "close" Papin sisters, Christine and Lea, who turned nuttiness and class struggles into homicidal rage in 1933 in Le Mans, France. My Sister in This House opens this Thursday at 8 p.m., with additional performances Thursdays through Saturdays until October 24. Tickets are $15 to $20 with special discounts available. Call 214-657-6573 or visit wingspantheatre.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 8. Continues through Oct. 24, 2009
