If I told you that Bruce Vilanch is a gay comedian who has written material for Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and the Donny and Marie Show and co-authored the gay anthem "Where Is My Man" you might think, "Oh, he sounds like a fun dude!" But you still wouldn't really know who he is. And if I told you that Bruce Vilanch looks like a blond sasquatch in ironic glasses, you might say, "Oh, do you mean Brian Posehn?" And I would say, no, I mean Bruce Vilanch, the mouthy and rotund comic known for his work on Hollywood Squares and various other talking heads-type shows--you'll know him when you see him. So your best bet is probably to put your ready-to-laugh pants on and head down (or up, or around) to the Addison Improv this weekend, where Vilanch is performing one show and one show only. Because really, once you've lost 21 pounds on Celebrity Fit Club, so many people want you to kiss babies and cure leprosy that staying in one place for more than a few minutes becomes downright cruel. Vilanch appears at the Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road, Suite 250 in Addison, at 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $20. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improv.com.
Thu., Oct. 15, 8 p.m., 2009
