If you are a racist, Louis Gossett Jr. is going to kick your ass. He doesn't say as much, but the founder of The Eracism Foundation doesn't need to. He was Chappy in Iron Eagle and the drill sergeant of nightmares in An Officer and a Gentleman, two characters famous for taking absolutely, positively no B.S. whatsoever. Even Gossett's press statement about his anti-racism plans bristles with military authority: "I am dedicating the last quadrant of my life to an all-out conscientious offensive against racism." Quadrant! Offensive! If you are even thinking about some racist B.S., you are in for it, pal. You think the guy who made life hell for Richard Gere over something as petty as selling pre-shined belts is going to let you get away with something as despicable as racism? Gossett is speaking at the inaugural Vision Forum lecture 7 p.m. Friday at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Road, with a private donor reception preceding the talk at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the speech are $25, with private donor reception spots starting at $250. Call 972-233-1898 or visit thevisionforum.org.
Fri., Oct. 16, 5:30 p.m., 2009
