The Fort Worth Stockyards are a bastion of cowboy culture year-'round, but this weekend will feature even more boot-scooting and hat-tipping than usual as the 19th Annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering & Western Swing Festival rolls into town. Featuring poetry and musical performances, cooks-offs, rodeo events, wild cow milking, calf branding, mutton bustin' and more, it's sure to be plenty of fun for the whole family, especially if your kids enjoy gawking at old men that look like Yosemite Sam. (Really, who doesn't enjoy that?) Events run Friday through Sunday in the stockyards. One day tickets are $30, or $40 if you want to attend Saturday's rodeo. Kids 12 and under get free admission to everything but the rodeo. Visit redsteagallcowboygatherings.com.
