Porky the Pig and the streets of Oak Cliff are among the diverse influences fueling the creative fires of up and coming Dallas artists showcased at the HCG Gallery in the Dallas Design District. Pop portraits of loved ones, flashy yet dreamy dioramas, and sculptures define the theme of the exhibition To Be Someone Must be a Wonderful Thing. Yes, indeed it is. The group show includes paintings and installation works by artists Erick Maybury, Alejandro Diaz, Bryan Ryden and Rachel Strum. The exhibition continues through November 14 at HCG Gallery, 1130 Dragon St. Call 214-760-9230 or visit hcggallery.com.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Starts: Oct. 30. Continues through Nov. 14, 2009
