Dallas, there is something we must stop doing. We must stop taking our art galleries for granted and go visit them. As I was perusing the list of artists featured in Dunn and Brown Contemporary's 10th Anniversary Exhibition I paused more than once. Not only were there names of local artists we know and love--Paul Slocum, Linda Ridgway, Erick Swenson--but also names of artists that should draw masses of those in the know as well as those who find their art via museum field trip, TV and velvety dogs in roller skates. Nic Nicosia, Gary Panter and William Wegman. Rackstraw Downes and Jeff Elrod. The names continue. This exhibition seems too great to represent only one decade, not to mention in one city and one gallery. So congrats to Dunn and Brown...and congrats to Dallas. Here's to another 10...and to hoping that with so many amazing galleries in these friendly confines, our citizens don't wait for art to find them, but go out and find art to love. Dunn and Brown Contemporary is located at 5020 Tracy St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The 10th Anniversary Exhibition hangs through December 19. Mondays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 5. Continues through Dec. 19, 2009
