I spent some time trying to figure out what an iconic photographer of celebrities and the dejected (Gary Bishop), a Brooklyn-based digital stop-motion animation artist (Yui Kugimiya), a sculptor of steel (George Schroeder) and an artist of mixed-media--painting, sculpture and collage--(Roberta Harris), all have to do with one another, in terms of HCG Gallery's group exhibition Command, Shift, Tab, Return, Delete. And then I gathered that perhaps they needn't have anything to do with one another--the chaotic sense that comes from such a compilation of creations mimics, quite beautifully really, the deluge of visuals and inspirations any normal person might see in a day's work or play. In that respect, even mundane keystrokes are part of a 24-hour artscape. So, better to make Command, Shift, Tab, Return, Delete a part of your life's art view than to miss it, no? The show hangs Tuesdays through Saturdays through January 23, 2010, at HCG Gallery, 1130 Dragon St., Suite 190. Call 214-760-9230 or visit hcggallery.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Nov. 28. Continues through Jan. 23, 2009
