The Winspear Goes Nuts

It's that time of year again--Chevy Chase is running out of room in his house, and the Grinch is complaining even more than usual. Stores are packed with stressed-out shoppers trying to find that perfect gift for that perfect someone. The mall just spent tons of money to have Santa Claus temporarily relocate from the North Pole. Well, you can forget about all that. It's time to celebrate Christmas without the normal stressors. Kick back, relax and enjoy Texas Ballet Theater's production of The Nutcracker. When Clara receives a nutcracker doll from her godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, at a holiday party, the magical journey begins. Join her and the Nutcracker Prince as they travel to a world filled with toy soldiers, dancing candy and sparkling snowflakes. You'll meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and Mother Ginger. Just watch out for those mice and be careful not to run into the 40-foot tree. Is it all just a dream? You'll have to wait and see. With colorful sets and costumes and music by Tchaikovsky, it's an event the whole family will love. The performances take place at the Winspear Opera House, 2106 Boll St., Friday through December 6. Tickets are $18 to $150. For information call 877-828-9200 or visit texasballettheater.org.
