Look, if you're going to get smart-ass about the name of the "Backdoor" comedy club, you most certainly deserve to be in the audience and not onstage. See, the Backdoor's annual New Year's Eve extravaganza is coming up, and it's way better to be drunk and laughing at the jokes than drunk and being the butt of them. Not only that, the Backdoor is a clean club--well, OK, it's a PG-13 club--which means the all-star comedians that grace its stage are actually funny, and not just telling butt jokes and making fart noises. You can bring the whole family to the show and not want to crawl under the table every time a punch line rolls around. And at the Backdoor, punch lines roll around an awful lot. The New Year's Eve show features local superstar Paul Varghese (you saw him on Live at Gotham) and Emmy-winner Linda Stogner. There are two shows on New Year's Eve, one at 8 p.m. (for $25) and a late show, including a midnight Champagne toast, at 10:30 p.m. (for $40). The club's located in the Doubletree Hotel, 8250 N. Central Expressway, so you don't even have to drive your drunk ass home after the show. Call 214-328-4444.
