With its globs and smears of vivid color, New Orleans artist James Michalopoulos' work has a blurry, watery look to it that makes it feel as if you're looking at it through a rain-coated window--or through the cheery haze of a few drinks. So it's no surprise to find out that aside from painting, he is also proprietor of a wine shop and the creator of a sugarcane rum distillery's almost as if his paintings are trying to recreate the woozy point of view of a happy drunk. Don't believe me? Have a few drinks...or better yet, don't, and check out his work, on display at The Cameron Gallery (1414 Dragon St.) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays or by appointment through January 10. Call 214-747-1414 or visit thecamerongallery.com for more information.
Mondays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 12. Continues through Jan. 10, 2009
