You are not going to want to do this. You will not want to get out of bed to be at Flagpole Hill for the New Year's 5-Mile Run at 10 a.m. But you will do it, won't you? You'll do it because your resolution is to get in shape and start running "again." And, depending on your night before, you'll finish before the second wave of hangover hits and you can chug Gatorade and as much ibuprofen as you need and feel awesome knowing you just ran a freaking five-mile on the first day of the year.
