Let's recount the decade that was, shall we? After Y2K failed to end life as we know it, the Supreme Court decided to do so by installing George W. Bush. Then came 9/11 and the ensuing wave of fear, with the accompanying jingoism and saber-rattling resulting in a bullshit war and torture campaign that ruined our reputation in the rest of the world. As if that weren't enough, we had Katrina, a global economic meltdown, three bitterly divisive presidential campaigns, teabagger protests, reality television and Paris Hilton.
