Dancin'! Dancin'! Dancin'!

I'm a music person. No, not really a musician--a fan. A connoisseur, really. So, if I believed in the healing power of anything besides medicine, it would be music. Music teacher Joel Shickman believed in that power and, even after his death from leukemia, that belief lives on in his name. Music Together's Annual Winter Disco Party benefiting the Joel Shickman Children's Music Fund takes place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Temple Emanu-El, 5800 Hillcrest Road. "Everyone between the ages of zero and 120 is invited," says Gila Vinokur, owner of Music Together of Dallas. "Multi-generational sounds" will be spinning, from swing to hip-hop. All proceeds go toward the fund, which allows children with cancer and their siblings to attend music classes for free. Tickets are $10. For more information, call 972-267-4452 or visit musictogetherdallas.com.
Sun., Jan. 17, 3:30-5:30 p.m., 2010
