Unless you're the next Roger Ebert or a primetime film aficionado, you don't always know which movies are worth watching, but there's no need to worry anymore. Why? Well, there is always a diamond in the rough when you watch the Academy Awards, and usually the gem turns out to be that one film that suddenly came to your attention via artistic talent and good marketing. It's also quite possible that Oscar already knows who the diamond is this year, and all bets are on The Last Station. A historical drama based on the life of Russian literary legend Leo Tolstoy, the film depicts his struggle to balance sudden wealth with an unusually extravagant lifestyle. War and Peace, anyone? The film is directed by Michael Hoffman and starts Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren. It's nominated for two Oscars, best male actor in a supporting role and best female in a leading role. The film does include nudity and may not be suitable for children. Catch it Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. Tickets are $8.50, or $6.50 for Modern members. Call 817-738-9215 or visit themodern.org.
Fri., Feb. 26, 6 & 8:15 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 27, 5 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 28, 2 & 4:15 p.m., 2010
