Fans of MonsterQuest might assume that the Yeti is the most beloved figure in Tibetan history, but that would only demonstrate their stunning ignorance when it comes to the subject of Tibetan history. In reality, Tibet's most famous figure was a cat by the name of Milarepa, first name Jetsun (OK, so I had to look it up on Wikipedia; I thought it was the Yeti too). The multimedia performance Milarepa tells this legend's story with dance, shadow art and theater, as well as blues, rap and rock adaptations of selections from The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa, a classic Buddhist text. Catch it 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Drive on the shores of White Rock Lake. Tickets are $15, $10 for students and seniors. Call 214-740-2769 for tickets and reservations.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Jan. 21. Continues through Jan. 30, 2010
