Nouvelle Vague, Shock of Pleasure, Chameleon Chamber Group

Friday, February 12, at the Granada Theater

Call it kitsch if you must, but the French ensemble Nouvelle Vague has found an affable niche reimagining rebellious punk, post-punk and New Wave anthems as breezy bossa nova tunes.

More About

Following two albums of well-chosen covers and a surprisingly diverse DJ mix, last summer's 3 revealed a new trick: Members of some of the original bands duet with Nouvelle Vague's coquettish singers, including Magazine's Barry Adamson, Depeche Mode's Martin Gore, and Echo and the Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch. The Specials' Terry Hall is even recruited for the Go-Go's hit "Our Lips Are Sealed," which he co-wrote. Good taste is doubly rewarded, it seems.

Dallas trip-hop act Shock of Pleasure and area classical music outfit Chameleon Chamber Group open.
