Ferdinand's Utopia

Flowers can turn just about any crappy day upside, well, up. Birthdays, weddings, Valentine's and get well soon bouquets only name a few occasions where flowers are almost necessary. So why not have an entire month dedicated to the amazing little blossoms? The Dallas Arboretum will present its 26th Dallas Blooms: Fiesta de las Flores this year with an endless array of flowers. Featuring 500,000 spring-blooming bulbs and thousands of other flower varieties, including tulips and azaleas, this floral festival will also present guests with music, Easter activities and family events. A highlight this year is a 12-foot tall Ferdinand the Bull topiary, bringing to life the classic children's tale, The Story of Ferdinand. Dallas Blooms will open its gardens on March 6 and runs through April 11 at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road. The Arboretum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $7 for children, and free for members and children 2 and younger. For more information, call 214-515-6500 or go to dallasarboretum.org.
