Get Shorty

When it comes to reaching cookie jars on high shelves, sure, the longer the arms, the better. But sometimes shorter is where it's at. Take Ray Carannante, for example: He was crowned the first ever skee-ball national champion in New York City last month. He's 5'5". And for those of us with short attention spans and/or small bladders, films fit into this category as well. Before you watch the Oscars Sunday night, check out the Oscar nominated short films of 2009 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. The animated nominees play at 6 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, and the live action shorts will be shown at 8 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8.50, or $6.50 for Modern members. For more information, call 817-738-9215, or visit themodern.org/magnolia.
Fri., March 5, 6 & 8 p.m.; Sat., March 6, 5 p.m.; Sun., March 7, 2 & 4 p.m., 2010
