Ten Bands, Ten Bucks, No Wristband

Between its folky Thanksgiving soiree and now-legendary winter dance party, Spune Productions is developing quite the reputation for throwing the area's most epic seasonal shindigs. And with a bill that boasts eight touring bands--as well as two local acts--for just 10 bucks, this week's Rite of Spring Fling at Hailey's appears set to continue the trend. And, by capitalizing on the growing number of bands and music fans alike who are making it a point to add stops in North Texas before making their way south to Austin for SXSW, the folks at Spune have been able to assemble quite the collection of indie buzz bands. The show, which will start at 6 p.m. in order to fit in the massive bill, boasts names like Quasi, Explode Into Colors, The Cave Singers, Cymbals Eat Guitars, The Dutchess & The Duke , The Ruby Suns, Generationals and The Moondoggies, who will be using the Spring Fling as an SXSW warm-up gig of sorts. Dentonites Monastery and the Spune-managed Seryn will be adding a bit of local flavor to the colossal lineup, which now stands at 10 acts. For those of you doing the math, that's just a buck per band, and no fancy wristbands necessary.
