Usually whenever the Trinity River is referenced in conversation nowadays, the topic is met with a certain level of criticism and debate. And while everyone probably has an opinion about the maintenance of the river, levees, and other related tax-absorbing projects, there is a segment of the DFW population that wants to celebrate the beauty of the metroplex river. Mayfest, a weekend-long family festival held along the banks of the Trinity River at scenic Trinity Park, 2401 University Dr. in Fort Worth, offers a weekend full of live music, entertainment, art, food and various other opportunities to experience firsthand the beauty of the Trinity River. The festival starts Thursday and runs through Sunday. Gates will be open from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday. The festival rounds out the weekend Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Visit mayfest.org for tickets and more information.
