Nothing On In Front, Everything in Back

If you love watching young girls scurrying about the stage in skimpy underwear and watching the drama of a bawdy love-fest unfold, you're in luck--sort of. This is only the plot of Nothing On, the play within the plot of the production Noises Off. The concept was hatched as playwright Michael Frayn stood backstage at one of his own productions and noticed his script was funnier from behind-the-curtain than sitting in the audience. Luckily, he wasn't one to view this as a sign of defeat, but rather the opportunity for something great--so he vowed to create a script that revealed a production's backstage happenings and out-of-character occurrences. Don't worry, there's nothing confusing about this unique plot. Instead, it's a hilarious look at what only the actors and director are usually privy to: all the tension and emotion that connect the cast and crew of an amateur production. Join the cast-within-a-cast from Thursday through Saturday for the last performance of its month-long run at Richardson Theatre Centre, 2701 N. Custer Parkway. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. For more information, call 972-699-1130 or visit richardsontheatrecentre.net.
