Revenge On The High Stage

Just call him Ishmael. Why? Well, you should be on a first-name basis with him, since you two probably go all the way back to your high-school days. After all, he spent over 100 chapters telling you his story, even taking an entire chapter to talk about the color of his infamous archenemy. Now you can reminisce about these good ol' days with Dallas Opera's live presentation of Herman Melville's American classic Moby-Dick. Join Ishmael as he sails the high seas with Captain Ahab and his ever-faithful crew, seeking revenge on the ferocious sperm whale who not only wrecked his ship but bit off his leg. It's a masterpiece any literature aficionado is sure to fall in love with. The production will be performed in English with projected supertitles. Directed by Leonard Foglia, conducted by Patrick Summers and starring Ben Heppner as Captain Ahab, Moby-Dick is presented in partnership with the San Francisco Opera, San Diego Opera, Calgary Opera and the State Opera of South Australia. Performances take place April 30, May 2, 5, 8, 13 and 16 at the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, 2403 Flora St. Tickets are $15 to $75.
