What do an Irish village, a priest and a string of murders all have in common? Usually, not very much, but they all factor into the plot of Martin McDonagh's The Lonesome West. When Father Welsh moves to Leenane, a tiny village in the County of Galway, a supposed accidental shooting occurs amongst a string of already mysterious deaths. Welsh is determined to keep the peace, forcing the shooting victim's sons, Valene and Coleman Connor, to work out years of hostility and pent up frustration while living in their father's old house. Will Father Welsh throw in the towel, give up his faith and succumb to the temptations of poteen, the Irish home-brew? It'd be a sin for you not to find out. After all, sometimes you just need a little dark humor to make you realize things are never really as bad as they seem. Or are they? The production is directed by Jim Covault and stars Jakie Cabe, Justin Flowers and Trey Walpole. The Lonesome West plays at Stage West, 821 W. Vickery Blvd in Fort Worth, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 to $30. Call 817-784-9378 or visit stagewest.org.
