I'll Get You, My Pretty

Most of us know what it's like not fitting in. Getting tripped in the halls, laughed at by classmates and pushed into lockers is the all-too-familiar formula awarded to unlucky outcasts. Whether it was buck teeth, thick glasses, a bad perm--or if you're really unlucky, all three--you want nothing more than to be part of the cool crowd. Luckily, most kids move beyond the ugly duckling phase by getting braces, donning contacts and growing out the hideous spiral pouf. But some kids don't ditch the awkwardness so easily. Take Elphaba, a green-skinned little girl who grew up in the Land of Oz. Making friends when you have toad-toned skin is no easy task, which is probably why she eventually turned into none other than the Wicked Witch of the West. The story of Wicked follows as Elphie and her unlikely gal pal Glinda transform from young women into powerful witches. Join the whole cast of other colorful characters in the musical, the untold story of what really happened in Oz before Dorothy's wild tornado ride. The box office record-breaking Wicked returns to the Music Hall of Fair Park Wednesday through June 27. Tickets are $35 to $145. For more information, visit dallassummermusicals.org.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: May 26. Continues through June 27, 2010
