Juarez In Color

Artist Sam Reveles' Juarez Paintings were inspired by events just across the border from his home in El Paso, where a cartel war has helped turn Ciudad Juarez into one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Reveles borrows the mandala technique of Buddhism for some of his works, but these paintings are by no means peaceful, with bright colors and chaotic lines spilling out across the canvas, conveying the frustration and confusion of someone forced to watch a city burn. Juarez Paintings hangs through June 19 at Dunn and Brown Contemporary, 5020 Tracy St. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-521-4322 or visit dunnandbrown.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: May 6. Continues through June 19, 2010
