British metal band Iron Maiden has been together almost as long as I have been a person, having formed in 1975. But only one member has been there from the beginning to now, and that is not the iconic and always interesting vocalist Bruce Dickinson, but bass player Steve Harris, who founded the band. The other thing that has been consistent throughout the life of the band has been Eddie, their gruesome mascot, who apparently signifies nothing but a cool-looking mascot. I can definitely respect that. It's as good a reason as any. There is one thing that cannot be denied about Iron Maiden, though, and that is that their influence is almost limitless. Sure, Metallica wouldn't sound like Metallica without Maiden, but Bad Religion wouldn't sound like Bad Religion, either. Despite several personnel changes over the decades, the band is still going strong and has played over 2000 shows to date--and they don't seem to be slowing down. If you've never had the pleasure of taking in this rock spectacle in all its glory, then by all means don't miss Dickinson and the rest of Iron Maiden on 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Superpages.com Center, 1818 First Ave in Fair Park. Tickets Are $25 to $85. Visit ticketmaster.com.
