Cross Pacific Pop

In the beginning, the idea of Sarah Geronimo evoked in me the jaded cynic full of snark, but the tween in me (whose first concert was The Jets and who currently follows @DeborahGibson on Twitter) brought the smack down and rallied behind The Popstar Princess (her official title, FYI). Sure, becoming a platinum-selling artist in the Philippines probably isn't that hard (20,000 units), but this is the land that gave us 1,500 "Thriller" dancing prisoners, so pop music must be in their veins. On the road to becoming the Philippines' biggest non-boxing import, Geronimo and her 2010 Record Breaker Tour will mark the Filipina's debut in the Lone Star State, and if message boards are anything to judge by (I don't know, I can't read Filipino), it should be a huge success--relatively speaking, of course. As an added bonus, she'll be joined by fellow Filipino stars Erik Santos, Charlie Green, Jimmy Marquez and John Prats as they take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St. Tickets are $37 to $200.
