Before that bullshit movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, there were real G.I. Joes. You know the ones with the plastic AK-47s, the jangling dog tags and the rubber military-issue boots? No, not the tiny, plastic dudes with the spring-loaded guns--we're talking about the 12-inch bad boys with the knit clothes. That line ended, but you'll be able to catch a glimpse of the grandfather toys at the Great Texas G.I. Joe Show at the Arlington Convention Center. If the child inside hasn't been flint-sparked yet: The first 50 people through the door on Saturday and Sunday will receive a pack of 25th Anniversary G.I. Joe Playing Cards, donated by the National G.I. Joe Collectors Club. Life is good. Sponsored by Cotsworld Collectibles and Serious Toys, the vendors will be selling vintage action men, detailed figure parts and accessories, armor and. of course, private collections appropriately scaled to the 1/6th mark. The characters of famous nature will range from Snake Eyes to Casey Jones. It all goes down Saturday and Sunday at the Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way in Arlington.
