Independence Day traditions can be a bit of a bummer to attempt in the heat of Texas summers. Outside activities are not at the top of everyone's list when the mercury hits the triple digits. So what can you do to salute the red, white and blue and stay cool? Enjoy a family-friendly, patriotic outing on the Fourth--complete with a band concert, hot dogs, ice cream and even fireworks, all in air-conditioned comfort--at the Star-Spangled Spectacular presented by The Dallas Wind Symphony with special guest conductor Lieutenant Colonel John Clanton from the U.S. Army Band. The band will perform a salute to our country and will lead the crowd in a patriotic sing-along 1 p.m. Saturday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Call 214-670-3600 or visit dws.org.
Sun., July 4, 1 p.m., 2010
