By The Horns

Empty Red Bull cans don't have to be an unwelcome reminder of last night's Jagerbombs. With a little imagination (and maybe a dash of Jager for inspiration) they can become a work of art. The maker of the energy drink asked artists, dabblers and anyone else with a creative streak to create something inspired by--or made from--those slim silver and blue cans. Past entries span several different media including sculpture--such as a tri-colored flying pig or a silver-plated apple--and photography. More than a thousand Red Bull cans are scattered ankle-deep around pretty people artfully lounging in a photo aptly named "Girls Gone Red Bull." The trash turned into treasure is the highlight of Red Bull Art of Can, a rotating exhibition hosted in a handful of U.S. cities. The art submitted to the Dallas-area competition will be on display for three weeks in a custom-designed gallery at the Galleria Dallas, 13350 Dallas Parkway. The juried exhibition starts on Sunday and runs through August 22. Visitors are welcome during regular mall hours. For more information, visit redbullartofcan.com.
