Little Girl Blue

Cyndi Lauper has been doing her thing for quite some time now, even though her thing changes from time to time. We were introduced to Lauper as a fun-loving girl in the '80s. She turned out to have a lot more heart and soul than we first suspected, trying out different styles and giving each of them her all. She has gone on to be a tireless activist for peace and civil rights, most prevalently LGBT rights and liberties with her True Colors Fund. And she has done it all with an unstoppable sense of humor. What I am trying to say is: She is a badass; always has been. Now she has a whole new adventurous thing going on with her Memphis Blues album. She traveled to Memphis to record the collection, and pulled in some heavy hitters of the blues world to help her out, including B.B. King and Charlie Musselwhite. The result is a compilation of cover songs interpreted in Lauper's heartfelt and unique way. She brings the Memphis Blues tour to Dallas at, fittingly, the House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St., on Wednesday. Get more information and tickets by calling 214-978–BLUE or visiting hob.com/dallas.
