Don't go into All About Evil expecting some clever Bette Davis quotes or a tale about an up-and-coming young actress who schemes her way to the top, because you'll be disappointed. If, however, you've got a taste for murder, mayhem and Natasha Lyonne, this is the film for you. Lyonne plays a mousy librarian who snaps when her mean mother threatens to sell her dead father's beloved movie house. Some people might hold a bake sale or settle down and kill their sorrows with a bottle of scotch. Lyonne starts killing people. The killings get filmed. The films get shown to hipster theater audiences and suddenly Lyonne is the newest pretentious horror movie director. This is the directorial debut of Joshua Grannell (aka Peaches Christ, longtime host of San Francisco midnight movie showings) and features Cassandra Peterson, the original Elvira. If that's not reason enough to see it, then I don't know what is. It's playing--at midnight, of course--at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane, as part of the Midnight Madness series.
