In Old Bavaria

It's a little ironic, don't you think? Who would have thought that the most impractical of all pessimists would end up making all the money? Welcome to Leo Bloom's world in The Producers. An anxiety-ridden accountant, Bloom makes a business deal with Broadway producer Max Bialystock in hopes that their terrible new theatrical production of Springtime for Hitler will fail and make them all the money. But when they hire a crazy director to manage the Nazi-inspired play and raise their funds by buttering up little old ladies, the production turns into an immediate and unsuspected success that leaves Max and Leo unable to pay back their investors. Talk about pessimistic irony. The Producers plays 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through August 22 at the Campus Theatre, 214 W. Hickory St. in Denton. Tickets are $10 to $18. Call 940-382-7014 or visit campustheatre.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 6. Continues through Aug. 22, 2010
