If you've never listened to Bach, you're missing out. Seriously, the guy had 20 children and an ego the size of Texas, but his music was still incredible. I'll bet Itamar Moses, the playwright of Bach at Leipzig, knows all that, and I'll bet he's a fan of all of those cantatas and toccatas and fugues, too. In Bach at Leipzig, Moses settles in to give us a look at the man and his music as young Bach competes alongside two other musicians to win a cushy job as church organist at Leipzig. Bach would come to be counted as one of the greatest composers who ever lived--eventually--but, back in his time musicians weren't rock stars, and young Bach was an unemployed servant, albeit one with a giant ego and serious ambition. See how Bach became Bach 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays (with an additional 3 p.m. matinees on Saturdays) through September 18 at the Circle Theatre, 230 W. Fourth St. in Fort Worth. Tickets are $20 to $25 with discounts for students and seniors. Call 817-877-3040 or visit circletheatre.com.
Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 & 8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 19. Continues through Sept. 18, 2010
