Too often, art is considered an exclusive thing, something for the in-crowd--established artists and their cohorts, collectors and such. But TCU's Department of Art and Art History presents a juried exhibition featuring the work of the public, so to speak. The only requirements for the paintings, drawings, sculptures, photos and other media chosen to be featured in Art in the Metroplex was that artists must be from designated counties (including Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Hunt and others), have completed the works in the past two years without supervision, and have never before participated in the AitM competition. Check out the art of the people through September 30 in TCU's Moudy Art Gallery. An award presentation with juror lecture takes place September 11 in Moudy's Room 141 at 2:30 p.m. Call 817-257-7643.
