When you hear "active seniors," you might picture a kindly but wizened bunch who shuffle between brunch, bridge games, grandchildren's recitals, and the early-bird special at Denny's, and then retire to bed as soon as 60 Minutes is over. And then there are those active seniors who put 20- and 30-somethings to shame. While we youngsters sit on our butts, watching YouTube videos and reruns of Family Guy, these extremely active 55-and-overs are tap-dancing, singing, and donning Swarovski and ostrich plumes in preparation for the annual Spectacular Senior Follies. (I can only hope my legs look as good as these showgirls' do when I'm 60.) In a show reminiscent of the renowned Ziegfeld Follies, these talented folks will perform classics from the 1930s and '40s. The show is directed by Mark Carroll, who co-founded the follies in 2008, and proceeds will benefit the Visiting Nurse Association and Meals on Wheels. See the Spectacular Senior Follies at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson.
